Cardio Program Plus
A cardiological examination is performed to detect early on diseases of the cardiovascular system and potential risks for a heart attack.
Cardiovascular diseases are among the most common diseases. They are often caused by deposits in the vessels and high blood pressure. Both do not cause any complaints for a long time but can eventually lead to a heart attack or stroke when left untreated to advance further. In Austria, one-third of all deaths are the result of cardiovascular diseases.
Using an ECG (electrocardiogram), an exercise ECG and echocardiography (heart ultrasound), we examine heart valves, heart chambers, and analyse the pumping ability of your heart as well as the blood flow. We can detect – among other heart diseases – conditions like cardiac arrhythmias, heart valve defects, and heart muscle inflammation.
The cardiological examination is an important part of our Total Body Scan® Plus screening program, but can also be booked separately if you have any complaints. You do not need a referral from your family doctor to do so.
Complaints/Symptoms
Stinging pain in the heart area or a feeling of tightness in the chest. Both can be caused by stress or heart spasms (angina pectoris).
Spasmodic, nagging and dull pain in the jaw and arms. In combination with shortness of breath, they can indicate a heart-related disease.
Shortness of breath without considerable efforts. Reasons include hyperventilation due to stress, heart failure, or pulmonary embolism.
Your blood pressure is elevated if the upper value is 140 mmHg or higher and the lower value is 90 mmHg or higher. In this case, you have a higher risk for cardiovascular diseases and renal dysfunction.
Wheezing and/or tightness in the chest area are among the symptoms of respiratory distress (dyspnoea). It is usually caused by an underlying disease like asthma, an allergy, COPD, heart failure, and heart spasms.
Family history, active smoker, too little exercise, high blood pressure, unhealthy nutrition, stress, obesity, excessive drinking.
